First Monday Networking Event - April 2, 2007
30th March 2009
The first Monday in April again saw another successful networking event. The evening was sponsored by QPHIL Recruiting , with our very own Nick Kirke –Vice president of CCIAP, as managing director.
QPHIL Recruiting is a company which aims at providing opportunities for Filipinos wishing to gain employment in Australia. It will be working with the Australian Government in the new skilled migrations program and help make it easier for skilled overseas workers to come to Australia for short term or permanent work. The opportunities are there – so just contact Nick if you are interested.
The evening progressed with Teresa Keating – president CCIAP - mentioning the up-coming events of the Chamber. She mentioned the very successful mining mission that was brought to Manila by Ms. Sallyanne Atkinson last March and the 7th Asia Pacific Mining Conference that will be held in Manila on June 4 – 7.
Our very special guest that night was Mr. Nick Xynias who spoke about the Lord Mayor’s Multicultural Round Table Business Dinner to be held at the City Hall on June 1rst. This will be an event not to be missed as it is sponsored by the Lord Mayor and the different chambers of Commerce in Queensland. A great networking opportunity for all.
We also had a guest – Mr. Carl Raistrick – who contacted the Chamber to help him solicit school books for the typhoon devastated areas in the Philippines. He made it known that these poor children have no reading material and that his family and friends have made it their goal to try and send books to the poorer communities in the Philippines. He was very happy with the good response so far to their venture. Agnes Whiten offered to donate books from the UQ library - which was very much appreciated. Everyone got up and spoke about themselves and their businesses. Robert Hernandez, James Hoyle, Nora Welsch, Fiori Cruz, Agnes Whiten and Efren and Nora Altez were some of the guests that night.
After the canapés and drinks - and the networking - Nick raffled out the bottles of wine – won by Nick Xynias and Aaron of Café Mindoro. He thanked everyone for coming and mentioned the coming cocktails that the Chamber will be hosting as a farewell to Sallyanne Atkinson in June. Teresa thanked Qphil for their sponsorship of $100.00 and the bottles of wine.
Our next first Monday networking will be on May 7 at Café Mindoro at 5:30 pm Please come and join us. James Hoyle, of Jaws Bucket, will be our sponsor for the night.
We welcome anyone that is interested in sponsoring a networking night . You will be allowed a 10 minute presentation of your company or business, hang up your banner, and pass around any material you wish. There will be a sponsorship fee of $100.00 and 2 bottles of wine – or any other prizes – for the raffle and business card draw.
Hope to see you all in our next networking night.
