  • Introduction to Roundtable Discussions (Philippines)

Roundtable Discussions

  • There will be 3 discussion groups tackling different aspects of the FTA:
    - Goods/Customs Administration (speaker: Brunei, reactor: Australia/ New Zealand)
    - Services (speaker: Australia, reactor: ASEAN)
    - Investments (speaker: New Zealand, reactor: ASEAN)

  • A facilitator will be assigned to each group to guide the discussion and present the outcomes at the afternoon plenary session.
    There will also be a resource speaker who will make a presentation on the topic and a reactor from the private sector.

Discussion Flow

  • A short presentation (on the negotiations process, outcome and future plans) will be made for each area by the resource speaker followed by a brief commentary by the reactor from the private sector.
  • The group discussion will follow, with focus on improving information dissemination on FTA related matters and improving communication between Government-Government/Government-Business/Business-Business (though participants may raise their individual concerns on the FTA at a later stage).
  • The facilitator will then present a summary of the discussions.

Plenary Session

  • The plenary session will tackle the "recommendations" stemming from the 3 group discussions. Negotiators and invited Government Officials may be asked to comment on the points raised.

Plenary Session: How to do business in Australia and New Zealand

  • Australia and New Zealand to present

  • ASEAN Businessmen to present on their experience

  • A few minutes will be allotted for questions
