Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland is hosting Glenda Hutch, an out-posted immigration officer, who is available to help members identify and access migration opportunities to respond to skill shortages. Glenda's role is to promote skilled migration as an option for employers experiencing difficulties in fulfilling skilled job vacancies.

Glenda is able to:

  • 1. Provide information on visa options for temporary or permanent residence

  • 2. Visit members to provide information about skilled migration

  • 3. Respond to issues raised about skilled migration

  • 4. Assist and support members with visa applications and associated processes

Topics of interest such as the 457 Visa changes and also the General Skilled Migration changes and the Student Visa options and how they apply to people from The Philippines.

Fair Work Bill – Preparation for now and the Future

For many employers, the next 12 months will introduce some major changes to how businesses employ staff. The Fair Work Bill has received Royal Assent, and is due to start becoming law from 1 July 2009.

Some of the major changes include, unfair dismissal rules, agreement negotiations, union rights of entry, transmissions of business, modern awards, and the National Employment Standards (NES).
